Pastor

Contract: Full Time, Permanent

Parkwood Baptist Church are seeking to appoint a pastor to work within the church and local community. Please see the job description and person specification below for more information.

Job Specification

The general overarching expectation is that the successful candidate would work to further God’s kingdom through the ministry of Park wood Baptist Church (PBC) both within the church and without, working closely with the deacons.

The list below is indicative of the work that would be required although there will be a great many more activities and tasks that will fall under the role of Pastor.

Some of the tasks could include:

To lead and preach on Sunday mornings as required.
Leading Bible Study sessions.
Organise and support the church house groups and develop them where necessary.
Organising and supporting pastoral care of the members and congregation of PBC.
Supporting wider pastoral care of others associated with PBC.
Providing counsel for church members and the wider congregation of PBC in accordance with safe working practices and observing the appropriate child protection processes.
To pursue and develop links with and a presence in the preschool.
To organise and lead church conferences.
To ensure the appropriate safeguarding measures are in place for the church and its associated activities.
To administer the preaching and leading rota as well as ensuring that communion takes place on a regular basis in line with the church constitution.
To develop a wider on-line presence through the use of social media including but not only through the church website and Facebook accounts.
To produce regular social media content to be shared across the church’s various platforms
To carry out ongoing professional development and training.
To foster links with other local churches for the furtherance of God’s Kingdom.

Person Specification for Pastor

The following gives some indication of those qualities and characteristics that would be a good fit for Parkwood Baptist Church

Essential:

The qualities outlined in Timothy form a good basis for the characteristics of a potential pastor.
Leadership experience either in the secular or non-secular world. Example of where the candidate has exhibited leadership qualities are important as the church builds a leadership team as well as continuing to build the church family.
A background including preaching and/or teaching within the church setting is an essential skill that would be expected.

Desirable:

Experience in working with a range of ages and backgrounds including in a counselling capacity whether formal or informal is an important example of a persons character.
Experience in working to deadlines and being accountable to and holding other accountable to deadlines would be important as the church body grows and the church’s mission builds.
Being married. This post would better suit a person who is married. The church is largely made up of married couples and the grounding and understanding that comes through marriage is crucial in order to best serve the needs of our church. It also acts as a role model for younger members of the church as they grow and mature.
